October 16 is the World Food Day

On 16 October, the World Food Day is celebrated. The decision was taken by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the day of its establishment (October 16, 1945). It is in over 150 countries, with Bulgaria joining in 2006. It was officially announced for the first time that one of the most important tasks is the eradication of hunger in the world and the creation of conditions for sustainable agriculture that could feed the world population.
Over one billion people worldwide suffer from malnutrition, which makes 15% or one-sixth of all humanity. Food is a major factor in the normal existence and development of man. both physical and mental. It has the task of satisfying the body’s needs of energy and building materials, providing good health, and protecting against diseases is also a factor that affects life expectancy. The intake of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals should be in keeping with the physiological needs of the body, nutritionists remind. They recommend several basic nutrition rules:

– diversity in the choice of food products

– Intake of less amounts of food, but more often

– Consumption of enough protein

– limiting fat and fried foods

– restriction of sugar and sugar products

– limiting salt

– daily consumption of raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains

– restricting the use of alcohol

– Proper digestion

– physical activity

– even distribution of meals

– Take enough water and fluids for the day
